There’s an exciting new education option on its way to Telford this year.

T Levels are a high-quality alternative to A levels for those who prefer a more hands-on, technical approach to learning after their GCSEs.

One T Level is worth the same number of UCAS points as three A levels, which means they are recognised by universities – so you can confidently take the next step on your career journey with a nationally-recognised qualification.

Telford College is excited to be launching its first T Levels in Digital, Science and Health, from September this year. Find out more about the courses here

These will soon be followed by T Levels in a range of other course areas including Business, Engineering, Construction, Art & Design, Media, Accounting, Hair, and Catering.

Developed in partnership with local businesses, T Levels are described as the ‘gold standard’ of vocational learning, allowing people to turn a passion into a career and boost their practical knowledge – and confidence too.

Students will typically spend 80 per cent of their time at college, and 20 per cent in the workplace, which means they’ll learn what a real career is like while continuing their studies.

We are working closely with a number of local businesses to ensure that students will be able to gain some fantastic industry placements in their chosen fields.

By developing the courses in collaboration with employers and businesses, it means we can make sure that the content meets their skills needs – and prepares students for work, further training, or study.

Just like A levels, the new T Levels are free if you start when you’re under the age of 19 and haven’t already enrolled in another form of post-16 education.

They provide yet more evidence that university isn’t the only further education route to a successful career.

If you are interested in moving to a T Level in September but are currently on another course, that’s not a problem.

Telford College will be running a T Level transition qualification which is designed to give students extra study time and preparation for the start of their chosen pathway.
