Telford College music students will be performing at Albert’s Shed in Southwater next week as part of their latest jam night.
Students from the level three music course, including bands ‘State of Mind’ and ‘Coffee’, will be performing a mix of rock, indie and pop when they take over the first part of the event on Wednesday May 10, from 7pm.
The college has a close relationship with the Albert’s Shed team, with several former students securing jobs at the venue. This is the second time the college has been invited to take over the jam night.

Andy Turner, learner manager for creative and music at Telford College, said: “We are really excited to be heading back with our music students. It is such a great venue and has been a fantastic addition to the Telford music scene.
“We always strive to give our students as much experience of the real music industry as possible, whether it is through the guest speakers that come into the college to talk to them, trips to recording studios, or the external venues that we use for gigs.
“Our courses here at the college teach students the composition, songwriting, musicianship and ensemble skills that they need to develop their own music and perform it live.
“We love celebrating the original music that our students produce and seeing it released on music streaming services, played on BBC radio, or performed live.
“We also have students developing their performance and musicianship skills though performing cover songs, often with their own spin on them, and giving them the platform to perform these in the types of venues that would book covers bands is great experience for the students and can really open doors in the local industry.”
Telford College has previously welcomed the chief operating officer of Albert’s Shed, David Gregg, to the college to take part in an industry panel – providing feedback to students on their business plans for music projects.
College staff were also at the BBC Music Day that was held at the venue in Southwater prior to its official opening.
