About the course

When working in health and social care we need to be compassionate, caring, and confident in what we do. Students will take part in group and 1-1 learning sessions to show they can work well within the team, and as an individual.

The delivery of the course is made up of different topics such as customer service, introduction to health care, introduction into dementia and Professional development. You will also get the opportunity to use our practical clinical skills centre and simulation suite to experience basic first aid skills.

The course will offer CV writing support and several local employers including the NHS will visit during the duration of the course to discuss vacancies and support you to apply for jobs in the sector or continue with your studies at the college.

This free short course is a steeping stone into a career in the sector. There are opportunities to have some work experience and you will be supported through an English and maths assessment. Students who have completed this course have gone on to further study at the college, including English and Maths qualifications or Access to Higher Education, or into employment, for example as a health care support worker in the NHS.
