Automotive student Courtney Moreton is flourishing in her new job at Furrows after completing her course with Telford College.

The Former Ercall Wood student progressed from her level 3 vehicle maintenance course to achieve the full-time role at the dealership.

The course provides students with an essential range of skills desirable to employers, such as essential knowledge for diagnostic technicians working on light vehicles, diagnosis of complex system faults and advanced systems operation.

Students get to work on high tech rigs and live vehicles, using the latest diagnostic tools for diesel and petrol vehicles.

Courtney said: “I decided to study automotive because I enjoy cars and have always wanted to work on them.

“I enjoy every aspect of my course, especially the in-depth practical side of the course where we get to work on cars, but I also enjoy gaining more knowledge in our theory sessions.

“I did my work experience at Furrows and I really enjoyed the working environment there. I’ve started a new role with the company, working in the sales desk.

“My dream is to work as an auto technician as I love the hands-on side of automotive, however I’d like to take any role in the automotive industry.”

Automotive Lecturer Robert Hands said: “Courtney made sure that all her work was handed in on-time. In practical tasks, she took notes and passed all her assessments first time.

“For her theory work, she was one of the top students for quality of work. She excelled at attention to detail, being theory or practical based work.”
