Staff and students from Telford College have handed over cash and supplies to a local charity from the proceeds of their Christmas jumper day.
The event, which was organised by the college’s student council, took place at the Wellington campus.
Everyone who took part was encouraged to either make a cash donation, or leave gifts which could be used by Telford Crisis Support to give to families in need.
The college handed over the proceeds earlier this week, in time for the charity to pass onto families most in need of support in the run-up to Christmas.
Lorraine Edwards, the college’s director of human resources, said: “We raised a total of £166.12 and collected a number of large boxes of food donations, along with toys, toiletries, books, gift sets – and even a pram/pushchair.
“We’d like to say a big thank-you to everyone who supported us.”
The charity says: “No-one in Telford & Wrekin need go without the basic essentials to keep themselves and their families sheltered, fed, clean, clothed, warm and healthy.”
