About the role

We have an opportunity within our Vocational Department for a Progress Coach to support on a permanent basis.

This role is to support and motivate students aged 16-19. Working closely with the academic tutors, you will support successful completion of the learners’ journey through coaching, setting aspirational targets, monitoring progress and performance to ensure an excellent learning experience and progression on to their future destination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students to ensure successful completion of their studies by working with students on a 1-2-1 basis or holding small group support sessions to ensure they are reaching their full potential.
  • Work with learners on a one-to-one basis, setting long term targets at the initial stages to identify their intended employment, qualification, English & Maths and aspirational targets which will be measurable against their achieved outcomes so must be recorded accurately and be appropriate.
  • Ensure that learners starting late on programmes have their induction entitlement.
  • Ensure learners attendance is consistently monitored and actioned in accordance with the attendance intervention policy, to ensure learners are attending and working towards the Colleges target.
  • Develop effective professional relationships with students and teaching staff, working within the College’s professional boundaries.
  • Commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
Skills, knowledge and expertise

Qualifications and training

  • Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* – C, or equivalent) in maths and English or a willingness to attain these qualifications with the support of the College
