About the role

The Early Years and Education Assessor is responsible for the quality delivery of teaching, learning and assessment within the Early Years and Education department.

  • Manage and support a caseload of learners completing their online diplomas as either an Early Years Educator or a Teaching Assistant. The post-holder will join a well-established team that is expanding due to growth in the area and from sector demand and will work closely with other assessors to ensure students’ have access to high-quality support and resources during their time on programme with us.
  • Largely desk-based work focussing on promotion and development of online diplomas and the resources to support timely completion.
  • Timely and organised visits to learners’ workplaces to assess practical competencies will need to be conducted.
  • Maintaining existing professional relationships and creating new partnerships with stakeholders including employers to promote and generate new business for the college 
Key Responsibilities
  • Be ambitious for the college, learners, staff and employers in the sector.
  • Ensure all areas of responsibility are focussed on supporting the college to deliver high quality learning experiences.
  • Enrol and induct candidates, ensuring all information is correct.
  • Register candidates with the appropriate Awarding Body, and within the timescales allowed by the Awarding Body.
  • Maintain individual records and ILP’s to support the learner’s progress.
  • Monitor learner progress and ensure deadlines are met by the learners.
Skills, knowledge and expertise

Qualifications and training

  • Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* C, or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Hold an Assessors qualification (A1 or equivalent) or be willing to work towards (desirable)
  • Hold IQA qualifications (V1 or equivalent) or be willing to work towards obtaining this within the first year of employment (desirable)

Skills and expertise

  • Vocational competency in training and assessment within the sector and knowledge of the sector. 
  • A good communicator with ability to negotiate with candidates and employers.
  • The ability to work as a team member contributing to the continuous improvement of programme area delivery and resources.
