A professional sound engineer who works with top stars in the live music and TV industry has been sharing his experience with Telford students.

Adam Waller has collaborated with big-name artists such as Beverley Knight, McFly, Rudimental, Nicole Scherzinger and was invited to deliver a guest lecture to Telford College.
Staff and students at Telford Priory School were also invited to the event as part of a new initiative by the college to share its industry links and resources with local schools.
A total of 50 year 10 students from Priory School joined Telford College music students for the live lecture, and were able to ask questions via their teachers.
Adam revealed how he started out in the music industry, and explained the role of education and training, the importance of networking, and the key characteristics and personality traits that have helped him to get work and build a top reputation in the industry.
Students were also treated to behind-the-scenes knowledge on the technical elements of TV shows such as Comic Relief, Top Gear, and Strictly Come Dancing – and Adam also made time to give sound engineering advice to the HND music students, ahead of their assessment gig the next day.
Ben Millington, head of music and creative media at Telford Priory, said: “I would like to thank Adam and Telford College for including Telford Priory in this industry workshop.
“Having a strong linking between the Telford Priory School and Telford College’s expressive arts departments is supporting students with a pathway into the entertainment and music industry.”
Andy Turner, head of creative and music at Telford College, said: “Adam is a close friend and his experience in the music industry has so many valuable lessons for our students.
“He has mastered the art of being a cool, calm and collected sound engineer and is a great example to aspiring musicians and engineers.
“We have hosted a number of guest lectures this year online, and will be continuing to do so next year.
“The online video conference technology has meant that even whilst we have had restrictions on travel this year, we have been able to give our students access to industry professionals all over the country, to expand their learning and inspire them to work in the creative industries.”
Telford College student Alex Davies-Mourby said: “The guest lecture was great; it gave me some really useful information which helped me massively when mixing live sound.
“The tips Adam gave me really helped me for my assignment, and I think I wouldn’t have done so well if I hadn’t had the lecture with him. Also, speaking to people like Adam shows me that a successful career in the music industry isn’t a daydream, it can be a reality if you work hard enough!”
Amy, a year 10 music student from Telford Priory School, added: “Adam’s workshop was very informative. Adam showed me an insight to the industry and the skills and pathway to get there myself.”
