About the course

Are you passionate about coaching and leading in the sports industry? Do you want to inspire others and make a difference? If so, this course is perfect for you!

Whether you play rugby, cricket, football, basketball, netball, golf, volleyball or any other sport, our level 3 extended diploma in sports coaching and physical education has something for you.

Designed for aspiring coaches and leaders, you’ll gain hands-on experience from day one by leading school sports competitions in cricket, golf, football, and the regional finals for sports hall athletics. You’ll explore topics like exercise, health, and lifestyle, current issues in sport, sports psychology, anatomy and physiology, and fitness training programmes.

You’ll also develop practical skills in sports leadership, practical sports performance, and coaching, while gaining insights into professional development, research methods, and business in sport. Additionally, you’ll learn to use player data GPS and Veo cameras to analyse performance, enhancing your ability to provide detailed feedback and improve athlete outcomes.

Your experience will be enriched through an engaging program of guest speakers from the sports industry and higher education such as: professional athletes, England Lioness staff, Keele University, and trips to sporting events and conferences such as the Blackpool Fitness convention, ‘This Girl Can’, and the Shropshire PE conference.

Our graduates have gone on to become PE teachers, sports coaches, business owners, and more! With the comprehensive training and experience you’ll receive, you’ll be well-prepared to pursue a variety of career paths in the sports industry.

You will also have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications in swimming instructing, refereeing, and coaching. In addition to the practical sports lessons, our sports academy provides the perfect opportunity for you to be coached by professional coaches in football, basketball and volleyball, and represent the college in competitive fixtures across the region.
