About the course

Develop a general understanding of health and science including working within the health sector, health and safety regulations, managing data, principles of good clinical practice, core science concepts (structure of cells, tissues, large molecules, genetics, microbiology, immunology). Industry placements will be in local NHS hospitals and the community.

You’ll also learn about topics specific to health such as providing person-centred care, supporting health and wellbeing, knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and of diseases/disorders and infection prevention and control.

Topics and units

You will have the opportunity to choose one of the following specialisms:

  • Supporting adult nursing
  • Supporting midwifery
  • Supporting mental health
  • Supporting the therapy team

 

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above, including maths, English and science
