About the role

We’re thrilled to announce an incredible opportunity to join Telford College as an Engineering Lecturer! This is more than just a teaching role—it’s a chance to make a lasting impact on the next generation of engineers. You’ll be delivering dynamic, high-impact engineering education to a diverse group of learners, including full-time students and apprentices, and helping them achieve their full potential.

The role is predominantly at level 3 and above engineering theory with particular focus on Maths & Engineering Science topics. If you’re passionate about engineering and education, we want YOU to be part of our forward-thinking team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and teach Level 3 & T-Level Engineering to full time to agreed success targets.
  • Deliver and teach engineering subjects to Level 4 and/or 5 part time students, as required, to agreed success targets.
  • Regularly review and monitor the attendance and progress of learners and follow up as required to ensure learners achieve their targets.
  • Carry out, collate and feedback initial and/or diagnostic assessments to identify students’ ILP and support as required, providing differentiated learning strategies to enable students to achieve their primary learning goal.
  • Update and maintain electronic documentation to support teaching and learning, assessment and tracking of learner progress.
  • Prepare and enter learners for exams in a timely basis.
  • Actively develop and use new technology in teaching, learning and assessment.
Skills, knowledge and expertise

Qualifications and training

  • Teaching qualification, e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE or DTLLs, or a firm commitment to achieve a Diploma in Education and Training (DET)
  • Relevant Vocational Qualification at Level 4 (Mechanical Engineering) (e.g. NVQ Level 4/Level 4 Work-based Diploma, HNC)
  • Assessment/Assessing/Assessor Qualifications (A1, TAQA, CAVA) – Desirable

Skills and expertise

  • Ability to deliver high quality teaching in a variety of Engineering subject areas.
  • Experience of teaching Computer Aided Design up to Level 3 (AutoCad, Autodesk Inventor)
  • Experience of teaching maths and engineering science up to Level 3
  • Ability to deliver high quality teaching on Higher National courses up to Level 4 and/or 5
  • Experience of teaching workshop units for example manual turning, manual milling and bench fitting
