- Student transfer arrangement for higher education
These transfer arrangements are in line with The Higher Education Research Act 2017 and Office for Students Regulatory Framework 2018. They cover the arrangements for students transferring:
- from another institution to the college
- between programmes at the college
- from the college to another institution
Telford College is committed to supporting students with any transfer they want to make.
1 - Students wanting to transfer from another higher education institution to Telford College
To transfer from another higher education institution to the college, students must meet the programme entry criteria and request to transfer at a suitable time.
Students should contact the college admissions team, who will advise them on the application process. This may be via UCAS or directly to the college.
If the transfer requires recognition of prior learning, the college will advise them on the process. This will include the student providing a certificate or transcript of a completed course for academic staff to assess.
Recognition of prior learning depends on the regulations of each awarding body and can vary by programme.
The admissions team will notify a student if their application is unsuccessful. If the student decides to appeal the decision, they can submit a formal complaint using the complaints and academic appeals policy.
2 - Students wanting to transfer within Telford College
To transfer from one programme at the College to another, students must meet the programme entry criteria and request to transfer at a suitable time.
Students should contact their current course leader as soon as possible to discuss their request. If the student still wishes to transfer, they should then contact the course leader for the programme they wish to transfer to. This course leader will then contact the learner manager: Access and HE, who will complete the process at the college and notify student finance England.
If their application is unsuccessful, the student may appeal the decision by submitting a complaint under the complaints and academic appeals policy.
3 - Students wanting to transfer from Telford College to another Higher Education institution
Current college students who wish to transfer to another higher education provider should contact the institution they wish to transfer to for advice on the process.
Students will need to withdraw from their programme at Telford College by contacting the learner manager: access and HE. The college will then confirm any outstanding attainment at the next relevant assessment board meeting.
If a student has achieved an interim award, they will be eligible to have this conferred at the next graduation ceremony, and will be awarded a certificate and transcript confirming it.
If a student has completed and passed modules but does not have enough credit for an interim award, they will be issued with a transcript confirming their completed credit.
If a student requires confirmation of their existing credit before transferring to another institution, they can request a letter confirming attainment from the learner manager: access and HE.
