How do I choose what course to study?
We recommend that you begin researching our courses using the college website or prospectus. Another great way of finding out more about your course options is our Open Events, where you can speak to staff members and ask for advice.
Try to consider your short and long-term goals and choose a course that will help you achieve them. If you already know what career you want, check the recommended routes into that role here.
If you need help choosing a course that suits you and your goals, then request a call-back for advice and guidance.
I know what job I want to do in the future. How do I find out which course I should take?
There are lots of useful websites you can use to research potential careers. By researching your career path and its requirements, you can ensure that you choose the right course at College. The National Careers Service is always a good place to start.
If you’re planning to go to university then we recommend that you use the UCAS website to research the degree you are interested in, and its entry requirements. Some degrees require certain qualifications in certain subjects, so it’s important that you do your research to make sure you are choosing the right courses for your future.
If you want any support choosing the right course, book an appointment with the careers team today.
What can my course lead to?
When researching our courses on the college website or in the prospectus, you will find that each learning programme lists progression opportunities. On completion of an Entry Level (Level 1 or Level 2 course) then you may be able to progress to the next level of course at College. Level 3 qualifications, including A Levels and full time vocational / technical qualifications, allow students to progress to higher education (such as university), apprenticeships or employment.
We also offer our own higher education courses at Telford College which are a great progression route from a number of our courses.
How do I find out more about courses?
If you want to find out more about the courses we offer, you can either attend one of our open events or request a tour.
I’m thinking about changing or leaving my course. Can you help?
It’s not uncommon for students to have doubts about coming to college or their choice of course. If you’re in this situation we can help support you to make a decision.
If you are a current student, you may find booking a careers appointment to talk to a Careers Advisor useful to help clarify your options and decide the best way forward.
If you do not currently attend Telford College but are thinking of joining us, request a callback using the form on this page.
We can also recommend resources which will help you research your options, such as course directories and employment opportunities.
Can I look around the college?
Yes! We understand that choosing where to study is an important decision, and so we welcome all prospective students to visit the college. You can do this by either attending an open event, or by requesting a tour.
