Arriva West Midlands smartcard ticket (bus pass)

An Arriva West Midlands smartcard ticket is a bus pass which allows the named student unlimited travel throughout the West Midlands Arriva bus network. The main use of this ticket is to provide transport to and from the college. However, students can use this to travel to their placement and for other purposes.

Please note:
- The passes are not valid during the Christmas, Easter and summer holiday periods.
- These passes are issued termly by the college.

Train season ticket

A West Midlands Railway season ticket, is a train pass which allows a student - along with their National Rail photocard - unlimited travel between two named railway stations.

Please note:
- One named railway station will be Wellington station, in order to travel to college.
- These passes are issued termly by the college.

Own transport travel cost contribution

The college can support students with the cost of coming to college when they use their own transport. This will be paid at the start of each half term, directly to the student. The amount paid is based on the distance between the student’s home address and the college campus.
- 0-5 miles from college - £75 per half term
- 5-10 miles from college - £150 per half term
- 10-15 miles from college - £225 per half term
- 15+ miles from college – will be calculated based on 25p per mile up to the value of £300

- This will be paid on the second week of your course for the first half term, then the first week for subsequent half terms.

College coach – Bridgnorth route

The college arranges a coach which provides travel each way once a day to the Bridgnorth area.

Free college meals (FCM and discretionary)

Students will be issued £17.50 per week to their college ID badge to spend in the college’s on-campus food outlets. Students can use the money throughout the week at any time of day, and any value per day – up to the value of £17.50 per week.

Childcare fee contribution

Students over the age of 20 at the start of their course can claim a contribution towards childcare fees, for the days which they are in college. This is up to a maximum of £125 per week.

Enhanced bursary payment

The college will pay the value of £200 per half term directly to the student’s bank account.

- This will be paid on the second week of your course for the first half term, then the first week for subsequent half terms.

Kit and uniform support

The college will support students with kit and uniform required for their course. Students should request support for their kit and/or uniform by completing the online form within the student portal or visit the financial support team in the Student Hub.

If the request cost is approved, the financial support team will arrange an internal transfer of funds directly to the department. Alternatively, we will contact the student to arrange for the funds to be paid directly to their bank account if it is something which cannot be provided by the college.

Materials and resources to support courses

The college will support students to access funds to purchase items towards the cost of their course. For example, art supplies, books, and materials, but not general stationery.

Students should purchase the agreed items and submit the receipt to the financial support team for approval and reimbursement. This should be requested by the online form within the student portal or visit the financial support team in the Student Hub.

- Students are advised to speak to the financial support team prior to purchasing material to ensure that they will be items eligible for reimbursement.

Professional and progression fees

The college will support students to access progression related fees such as UCAS application and professional membership fees such as AAT membership fees.

Students should purchase these memberships and submit the receipt to the financial support team for approval and reimbursement. This should be requested by the online form within the student portal or visit the financial support team in the Student Hub.
