Catering students at Telford College will be opening the doors of their on-site restaurant next month to serve up a festive feast.

The Orange Tree, at the college’s Wellington campus, will be serving Christmas lunch to the public on eight days during December.

Students from the college’s professional cookery courses will be preparing all the food under guidance from expert chef lecturers, with a choice of either two or three courses.

This year’s menu includes a choice of three starters: chicken liver pate, butternut squash soup, or honey glazed goat’s cheese.

Main course options are roast turkey with all the trimmings, herb crusted salmon, or a wild mushroom stroganoff, and dessert choices are pavlova, duo of chocolate tart and brownie, or a classic Christmas pudding with brandy sauce.

Two courses are £13.50 and three courses are £16.50. Tea, coffee and water are included, and additional drinks can be purchased from the restaurant bar.

Tables can be booked for either noon or 12.30pm sittings on December 3, 4, 6, 10, 11, 13, 17 and 18.

Andy Turner, director of vocational studies at Telford College, said: “We are so excited to see the restaurant open to the public again after several successful private events already this term.

“The Christmas lunch service that the catering team here provide has been well received by people in our community in previous years, and we are pleased to be offering it again for December 2024.

“The menu looks fantastic, and it is so reasonably priced for the high-quality food that our students produce. I am personally looking forward to booking in and having an early Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.”
