Creative student Charlotte Morgan is setting herself up for a bright career in fashion journalism, where she aspires to work in the upper echelons of the fashion industry.
A former pupil of Codsall High School, Charlotte has created a plethora of exciting work to add to her portfolio, including music videos, photography and short film – which was showcased at the Wellington Orbit cinema.
“I first started studying media in secondary school” says Charlotte. “I have a really big passion for photography. When I found out there was a course that incorporated all of these things, I was really intrigued.
“I saw the course online and then visited the campus at an open event, giving me the chance to see what the classroom was like and find out more from lecturers.
“I really enjoyed all elements of my course, I especially enjoyed researching and analysing media, seeing what was out there and what effects it had. We got to tailor our learning around what we enjoy, so I tried to do as much practical work and analysis as I could.
“My short film was themed around the concept of time travel, where a character is trapped in a room and repeats every day, trying to escape. I found the project challenging to film, but I’m happy with the results at the end.
“Now that I have finished my course, I’m looking to take a gap year so I can save before I go to university. I really want to look at fashion journalism, as I’m interested in the fashion industry and I can apply what I’ve learnt in college. I’ve been looking at the University of Sunderland, as well as the arts universities in London.
“My dream job would be to produce work for fashion outlets like vogue, I’d love to report on shows and what outfits celebrities are wearing. I did my first photography work at a fashion show at Ironbridge, as well as other photography work to build my portfolio”
Joe Adams, Charlotte’s lecturer for Media, said “Charlotte was an absolute pleasure to teach. She’s an incredibly hardworking student with a clear passion for the subject.
“It was always fantastic to see her get fully involved and apply herself to all areas of the course. She completed a valuable work experience placement, continually aimed for high grades and had a positive, supportive impact on her peers.”
“I really look forward to seeing more of her successes as she progresses into higher education.”
