Diving into Digital T-Levels

Continuing our T-Level Week coverage, we visited our business suite to speak to our digital T-Level students to ask them about the course. Being the first year of the college offering the new style of qualification, we wanted to know what drew them to the course.

We spoke to Jesse Abdul Karim and Damian Kamienski about their step into T-Levels and what they liked about the course so far.

“I decided to choose T-Levels as I liked the idea of more hands-on work and this T-Level really helps me expand my knowledge of computing” says Jesse. “It gives me a lot more understanding of coding and the languages involved, such as python and CSS, which I didn’t know before starting this course.”

Jesse Abdul Karim was originally studying a level 2 computing course here at Telford College. He chose to do T-Levels because it gave him detailed understanding and experience of work in the computing sector.

“I’m hoping to do an apprenticeship in a cyber security analyst role, which I could achieve through getting high grades on this course. Doing this T-Level will put me in a better place when applying for jobs or apprenticeships, as I’ll already have the knowledge and workplace experience that other candidates won’t necessarily have.

“I like the teachers, they have been a great help. I also like how the college provides us with extra facilities like a VR set, 3d printer and more.”

Damian Kamienski, previously of Telford Priory School, is looking forward to going on placement. “I think it’ll be fun meeting new people and learning many new things.

“I took a digital T-Level because I love getting stuck in, fixing computers, I feel like that’s what I want to do for the future, I’d like to do an apprenticeship.

“We’ve already learnt about working with servers. Also, I think this T-Level was the best choice for the future as many employers prefer practical experience over theory.

“I initially first looked at Telford College, because I liked the wide range of courses available. I’m really interested in the college’s basketball sessions too.”
