INDUCTION WEEK: Everything you need to know

Induction Week is one of your most important times here at Telford College.

It’s when you’ll meet new friends and staff, adapt to a new environment find your way around your educational home.

We’ve put together a handy guide to help you get your bearings and find any support you may need.

What should I expect?

Lots of exciting welcoming activities – being shown important areas like classrooms, study zones, student hub, restaurants, BeSafe, sports hall – as well as icebreakers for students to get to know their future classmates.

What do I need to bring with me?

The most important item you need to bring with you is your Telford College lanyard with ID card. If you have lost your lanyard, please report to reception to get a replacement. Other important items you should bring include stationery such as a pen and a notepad, as well as any course specific kit like overalls, uniforms or PPE.

Who should I see if I get lost?

All staff wear purple lanyards and will be able to help you. There are also security staff on site.

What will I learn about?

How to navigate the college, where important services that are available to students are, and how to get the most out of your time as a student here at Telford College.

Where is Safeguarding located?

BeSafe, the college safeguarding team, are located in the office to the left of reception.

Where are the quiet spaces?

Quiet spaces are areas of the college dedicated to quiet study. They are in the creative hub, the ground floor of W block and on the ground floor of E block.

Where is the multi faith room?

The multi faith room is located on the first floor in the student hub. Access to the room can be given by any member of staff in the hub.

Where is IT support?

The IT support desk is located at the rear of the student hub on the ground floor. Staffed by IT support, they will be able to support with IT and learning resources.

Where can I get refreshments?

There are four places in the college to get food and drink from;

  • The Haybridge Restaurant is the main area serving the college, with a variety of breakfast options in the morning as well as hot food, sandwiches, and drinks.
  • There is also a smaller outlet in Rendezvous, as well as a Starbucks on the opposite side of the area and a brand-new sweet shop, Sweet Success, due to open later in the year.
  • There are also vending machines in the Haybridge Restaurant and S Block.

Who do I talk to about funding?

Our financial support department is located on the ground floor at the student hub, where you can get advice about financial matters including bursaries, college meals and travel expenses, subject to eligibility.

Who do I speak to about Enrichment/Student Council?

To get involved with the student council, student voice or find out about any enrichment activities you may be interested in, see our Enrichment Coordinator in the student hub.

Where do I find out more information about Sport?

If you are interested in using the college gym facilities or joining a sports club, visit the sports reception in S block or email sports@telfordcollege.ac.uk
