Shropshire motor dealership TJ Vickers has recruited a new apprentice in its accounts department.
Miles McKie, 19, from Bridgnorth is among nearly 100 apprentices to have been placed with local employers by Telford College since the start of lockdown.
He has taken on a role as an apprentice accounts clerk at the company’s Shrewsbury dealership, on the Battlefield Enterprise Park.

He is the second apprentice which TJ Vickers has taken on through Telford College – they have previously recruited a member of their workshop.
Operations manager Becky Vickers said: “We have been really impressed with how Miles has fitted in with our team and has picked up the tasks set quickly.
“Telford College made the apprenticeship process easy – overall we have had a great experience.”
TJ Vickers has been established in Shropshire since 1962, making it one of the oldest and most successful family-run automotive businesses in the area. It holds sales franchises for a range of brands including Suzuki, Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Jeep.
Telford College recruitment officer Lora Rogers said: “Miles started his Level 2 AAT with us to build a foundation of knowledge and understanding in accountancy.
“He is a very committed and driven young man who had attained amazing grades from school, and has continued this through his education.
“Miles was a really hard-working and focused young man, and it was great to see him get snapped up so quickly by such a good company that will offer him growth and opportunity in the future.”
Telford College has a busy programme of activities lined up during National Apprenticeships Week, including webinars and Facebook live sessions. Details can be found here.
