Students tee off in lunchtime challenge with Putt Putt Noodle

Telford College, Wellington, are visited by Putt Putt Noodle crazy golf venue from Telford, Shropshire

Telford College were visited by Putt Putt Noodle, an Asian-themed crazy golf venue, located in Telford Shopping Centre, who offered a unique golf challenge for students.

The hole in one challenge, held in the college’s rendezvous area at lunchtime, was a favourite at the college’s freshers fayre back at the start of the academic year.

The contest gave students the opportunity to win prizes such as fortune cookies and free games at the venue, with 106 students taking part in the activity organised together with the college’s EMERGE Roadshow campaign.

The EMERGE Roadshow happens every Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime, and includes games, quizzes, challenges and puzzles in Rendezvous, with the goal of encouraging students to have fun and develop skills such as teamwork, communication, motivation, and resilience.

Putt Putt Noodle opened in Telford in May 2023 and boasts a varied menu of authentic Asian street food as well as their three Asian-inspired crazy golf courses.

General manager Clive Szczepanek and assistant manager Sophie Salt were on hand to make the session as memorable as possible for our students.

Clive said: “We’re a new business in the area, we’re looking to reach out into the community, giving away free games to students who win, and we want to encourage everyone to visit the town centre”

“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback, there’s a lot of happy students looking to try their skills and we hope we’ve provided something a little bit different for them today and hope to see some familiar faces at our venue in the future.”

Rosie Baldwin-Jones, our enrichment co-ordinator, said: “Students have really enjoyed the challenge, having fun with their friends, and studying each other’s tactics to see if they can do better.

“Some of the most impressive hole-in-ones were scored by quiet or more shy students, so it was great to see their confidence shoot up when they realised they’d won a prize!

“We are already starting to plan our 2024 freshers fayre for September, and will definitely be having Putt Putt Noodle back with even more games and prizes for students to win.”
