COURSE

A two-year full-time vocational course, equivalent to 3 A levels. Diverse assignment briefs will explore a range of art and design specialisms, such as painting, graphics, and fashion design, all taught in our specialist creative hub, with university standard facilities.

You will work to creative briefs from real-world clients to showcase your skills.

Units:


Year 1

– Fine art project

– Fashion and textiles project

– Graphics project

– Final creative project


Year 2

– Personal progression plan

– Individual creative project

– Critical self-appraisal



Work placement opportunities:
The National Trust, Wrekin Arts Society, freelance commission work
Progressing to: Higher education, apprenticeships or employment in the creative industries

Aspirational careers: Architect, art therapist, photographer, artist, creative director, film and TV costume designer, graphic or interior designer
4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English or maths and GCSE or Level 2 Art qualification. You will also be required to audition or provide a recorded portfolio.
This course is marked through a practical portfolio & written assessments.
Resources – Art packs are available for purchase from the Creative Hub and cover the basic resources you will need.

Trips include art galleries in the local area, as well as in London and Liverpool for inspiration. You will also take part in local and national competitions in disciplines such as photography, textiles or fine art.

Guest speakers from universities and the art and design industry will enrich your learning at the college. You will also visit university campuses and take part in workshops to help you decide on your future career aims.
