Student Voice

Your college, your voice

Student Voice at Telford College includes all the ways you can share feedback, concerns, ideas, and suggestions.

The Student Council plays a key role in promoting an active and inclusive student voice across the college. It enables FE students to contribute meaningfully to college improvement by representing learner views on a wide range of strategic and operational areas, including:

  • Communication and Marketing
  • Enrichment and the wider student experience
  • Environment, Health and Safety
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
  • Fundraising and social action
  • Healthy lifestyles and wellbeing
  • LGBTQ+ representation

Student Council Officers meet every half term to review student feedback, evaluate impact, and agree actions that lead to continuous improvement. This includes contributing to student events, awareness campaigns and influencing college policies, procedures and practices.

The Student Council is led and supported by an elected Student President and Student Vice President, who also act as Student Governors. They attend College Corporation meetings, ensuring that the learner voice informs strategic decision-making and governance.

The Student Council supports the college’s commitment to high-quality provision, learner engagement and a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.

Angel Abraham - Vice President

Angel Anish Abraham,

Student Vice President 2025-26

I wanted to join the Student Council to be a voice for those around me, to gain more experience in leadership, and to make the most of the opportunities available at Telford College.

I have worked with other officers to create promotional videos about the college, and I have connected other students to the Student Council so they can bring innovative ideas into the group. This experience has strengthened my CV and university application; I am contributing to my future while enjoying my college experience to the fullest.
Vinnie Faulkner - Fundraising

Vinnie Faulkner

Fundraising Officer 2025-26

I joined the Student Council because I wanted to help people, make a change, and be a voice for the unspoken. I wanted the opportunity to work with different people and to try something new and outside of my comfort zone.

As part of my Student Council work, I have helped to introduce more budget‑friendly food options and deals into the college catering provision. I have gained a level of confidence I didn’t have before, and I’ve learned a lot about how different people and college departments work together – knowledge that will help me in the future with teamwork and collaboration.

Ellen Mensah

Healthy Lifestyles and Wellbeing Officer 2025-26

I joined the Student Council to represent the student voice, contribute my ideas, offer positive support, and build transferable skills for the future.

I’ve developed my skills in listening to other people’s opinions and working in a team to achieve shared goals. I am now more confident in presenting my ideas and acting on them.

Class Reps

Class Reps meet with staff four times a year to review teaching, learning and assessment, as well as the wider student experience, enrichment opportunities and safeguarding arrangements, helping to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

Being a Class Rep provides valuable insight into how the college operates and how decisions are made. Students develop key skills in leadership, communication and professional conduct, through participation in formal meetings and collaborative working with staff and peers.

This process supports effective learner engagement and contributes to continuous improvement in the quality of education.

Student Ambassadors

As a Student Ambassador, you’ll play a key role in bringing college life to life for others. You’ll be at the heart of the college community, helping to showcase everything we have to offer while representing student voice and values.

Student Ambassadors get involved in a wide range of activities, including Open Events, campus tours, focus groups and volunteering, giving you the chance to meet new people, support future students and make a real impact.

Along the way, you’ll build valuable skills in customer service, communication and event delivery, gaining hands-on experience that will boost your confidence, CV and future career prospects.

It’s your chance to stand out, give back, and be proud to represent your college.Â
