Telford College is running a series of free training sessions in Wolverhampton and Birmingham targeted at people looking to gain jobs in the warehousing and logistics industries.
The two-week courses, which are followed by a week of practical training and assessment, are for people over the age of 19 who are either unemployed, or earning less than the National Minimum Wage.
The next sessions start at Erdington in Birmingham on October 6 or November 11, and in Willenhall, Wolverhampton, on October 13. Further dates are also planned for the new year.
“These courses focus on delivering relevant and comprehensive training to gain qualifications which allow people to start a career in warehousing and logistics,” said Jon Aver, business programme manager at Telford College.
“Everyone who successfully completes the course will receive a level two certificate in warehousing and storage principles, plus modules on employability, customer service, and more.”
The training is part of the college’s employability programme, which works in partnership with Jobcentre Plus and major businesses across the region to generate new opportunities for the unemployed.
It currently runs programmes in Telford, Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Ludlow, Shifnal and Market Drayton – plus Wolverhampton, Dudley, Birmingham and Coventry.

Jon added: “The college’s employability courses can support businesses to create a skilled workforce. Our sector-based work academies help prepare candidates to apply for jobs in a different area of work.
“Placements are designed to help employers meet their immediate and future recruitment needs, as well as recruiting a workforce with the right skills to sustain and grow their operations.”
