An exciting period of growth and transformation

Telford College is undergoing a period of significant growth and transformation.

Construction work is now well under way on Telford 6th, our new sixth form centre in the town’s Station Quarter, significant investment is being made in our Wellington campus, and we are committed to growing our curriculum in key areas including health, construction and engineering.

We have just published our new strategic plan, which lays out the college’s aims for the next three years and provides a framework for the next stage of our journey.

We are ambitious: I believe that Telford and Wrekin should be the home to a world-class college with the mission of delivering the highest quality of education and training for our communities… equipping students with skills they need to thrive in the modern workplace.

Our main aims for the next three years are focused and clear – to inspire our students to achieve their potential and more, and to drive economic growth through innovative and impactful partnerships. We also want to be a sustainable college and enable the people who work here to deliver excellent outcomes and have rewarding careers.

As Telford & Wrekin’s further education college, we recognise our responsibility to meet the needs of the community we serve – especially the employers who rely on us to develop their highly capable workforce of the future.

We can’t achieve this alone, of course. It’s all about partnership – working together with other stakeholders who, like us, seek to inspire action and provide a springboard for success.

For us, this involves building on our strong business, community and educational partnerships. Keele University now has a base at our Wellington campus, and we have also signed a memorandum of understanding which will see us working more closely with Harper Adams University.

I have now been at the college for 16 months, and I can’t thank everyone enough for the warm welcome I have received. It has been a pleasure meeting so many people who genuinely care about Telford College and who want us to do well.

I have enjoyed learning about the history of area and of the college. I am however looking ahead and look forward to seeing the transformation of the college over the next few years as we achieve our plans.

If you’d like to see for yourself what Telford College has to offer, why not come to one of our open events or twilight taster sessions. All the details can be found at telfordcollege.ac.uk/events/
