The level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling is a two-year, part-time professional qualification designed for learners who wish to train as therapeutic counsellors. Building on existing counselling knowledge and skills, the course develops the professional competence, self-awareness and ethical practice required to work safely and effectively with clients in a range of counselling settings.
Throughout the programme, you will explore counselling theory, ethics, diversity and inclusion, mental health, professional practice, and research, while developing advanced counselling skills through experiential learning, skills practice and reflective development. As part of the qualification, you will complete a minimum of 100 hours of supervised counselling practice within an approved placement, enabling you to apply your learning in a real-world setting.
Delivered one evening per week, this programme combines academic study with practical skills development to prepare you for employment within the counselling profession or progression towards professional membership with recognised counselling bodies, subject to meeting their individual requirements.
