Our active student council is heavily involved in college life, and is a vital link between tutors, curriculum leaders, and students. Â
It provides a platform for learners to share ideas, raise concerns, and influence decisions that affect college life. Â
Telford 6th will have its own student council, feeding directly into the Telford College-wide student council.Â
The student council promotes leadership, teamwork, and communication skills, and collaborates with staff on initiatives ranging from wellbeing and safeguarding to enrichment activities and community engagement. Â
By championing student perspectives, the council helps ensure the Telford 6th community remains responsive, supportive, and forward-thinking.Â
Students are introduced to the BeSafe team during induction and taught about risks both online and in person. Key safeguarding messages are reinforced through tutorials and development sessions, with ID cards providing essential contact numbers.
All students know their concerns will be taken seriously and acted on quickly. Our aim is for every learner at Telford 6th to feel safe and supported at all times.
At Telford College, student safety and welfare come first, and safeguarding is a shared responsibility for everyone.
We operate a strict zero‑tolerance approach to bullying of any kind, and yearly feedback consistently shows that students feel safe in college.
If you have concerns about a student’s safety, please contact the BeSafe team on 01952 642220 or email besafe@telfordcollege.ac.uk
