How to apply to telford college

Step 1: Find your course

Step 2: Submit your application 

Complete our online application form and tell us about your chosen course(s). 

Our application process is designed to ensure you receive the most suitable offer and support throughout your journey to college.

Before you apply, make sure you have details of your current school, your predicted grades (if available) and an email address that you check regularly. We’ll use this email address to keep you updated throughout the application process. 

    

Step 3: Application assessment 

Once we receive your application, our Admissions Team will review it against the entry requirements for your chosen course. 

As part of this process, we’ll consider: 

  • Predicted grades 
  • Attendance 
  • Attitude to learning 
  • Other relevant information provided by your school 

Where updated information becomes available during the application cycle, we’ll review this and amend offers where appropriate. 

  

Step 4: Receive your conditional offer 

If you meet the requirements for your chosen course, we’ll make you a conditional offer. 

A conditional offer means we are offering you a place at Telford College, subject to you achieving the entry requirements when your final results are released. 

Your offer will explain any conditions that need to be met before enrolment. 

  

Step 5: Attend your applicant experience event 

Students who receive a conditional offer will be invited to attend an on-site applicant experience event at Telford College. 

This is your opportunity to: 

  • Experience your chosen subject area 
  • Meet teaching staff 
  • Explore our facilities 
  • Learn more about college life 
  • Understand what to expect when you join us 
  • Feel confident you’ve chosen the right course 

We’ll send further information and booking details closer to the event. 

  

Step 6: Stay connected 

Throughout the year, we’ll keep in touch with important updates, information and activities to help you prepare for starting college. 

These communications ensure you’re fully informed and ready for the next stage of your journey. 

Throughout the year, we’ll keep in touch by email with important updates, event invitations, financial support info and enrolment information. It’s important that you regularly check the email address used on your application so you don’t miss any key communications.

    

Step 7: Results Day 

When GCSE results are released, we’ll confirm whether you’ve met the entry requirements for your chosen course. 

If your results are different from those expected, our team will work with you to explore alternative options and help you find the right pathway for your future. 

  

Step 8: Enrolment 

Congratulations! 

Once your place is confirmed, you’ll complete enrolment and finalise your study programme. 

We’ll provide everything you need to get ready for your first day and start your journey as a Telford College student.

We encourage students to submit their application by 31 March to ensure they can fully engage with the application journey and receive timely updates from the College. 

You can only apply for one course at a time with us, unless you’re studying A levels. During the application process, we can work with you to identify the course and study programme that best matches your interests, ambitions and qualifications. 

Yes. We understand that your plans may change as you learn more about your options. If you’d like to discuss changing your course choice after applying, please contact our Admissions Team (admissions@telfordcollege.ac.uk) and we’ll advise you on the options available 

Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll receive confirmation that we’ve received it. Our Admissions Team will review your application against the entry requirements for your chosen course and any information provided by your school. We’ll then let you know the outcome of your application and, where appropriate, make you a conditional offer. 

Yes. Many students are still considering their options when they apply. If you’re unsure which course best suits your goals, our Admissions Team and Careers Advisers can help you explore the options available and make an informed decision. 

Application response times can vary throughout the year depending on application volumes and the course you’ve applied for. We’ll review your application as quickly as possible and keep you updated throughout the process.

Yes. Applications submitted after 31 March may still be considered, although some courses may become full and certain stages of the application journey may have already taken place. 

Your place is confirmed once you have met the conditions of your offer and completed enrolment. 

Note: All courses are subject to approval and government funding. Under these circumstances, Telford College will support you to secure alternative learning opportunities.
