This equips learners with essential skills to maintain and repair buildings efficiently. You’ll gain knowledge in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, and tiling, ensuring properties remain safe and functional. It covers health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and preventative maintenance to minimize costly repairs. Typically lasting 18–24 months, it combines hands-on experience with structured learning.

Support the planning, preparation and delivery of property maintenance tasks in accordance with building safety regulations and legislation.
Create a safe working environment by implementing the necessary control measures.
Access and utilise appropriate work plans, job sheets, specifications, drawings/diagrams, information & data sheets
Select, check, use and maintain tools, equipment, materials, components, compounds and parts appropriate to any task being undertaken
Safely isolate electrical, electronic and emergency systems to enable property maintenance operations to be performed around isolated electrical components
Perform fault diagnostics to implement a range of minor reactive or responsive plumbing and drainage repairs to a satisfactory conclusion.
Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance of components within water, environmental and energy management systems.
Use carpentry and joinery skills to complete minor repairs or refurbishment to fixtures within and around properties.
Carry out minor plastering repairs using appropriate materials and surface finishing techniques.
Carry out remedial painting and decorating works to a range of surfaces
Carry out minor tiling and flooring activities or repairs
Carry out planned, responsive or temporary repairs to buildings and their immediate surroundings to make buildings safe and secure
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing, using digital technologies to access ,identify, record and report information, liaise and coordinate with other team members and customers.
Maintain and develop competence in the property maintenance industry
Nearly all apprentices gain a permanent job upon achievement and great longer-term career prospects within the company.
The Standard contains the 5 elements of every other standard being delivered by Telford College within the department knowledge, skills, behaviour, End Point Assessment and the crucial development of English and Mathematics Functional Skills.

Apprentices must hold at least a GCSE grade 1 or equivalent in English and maths and will be required to work towards Level 2 Functional Skills as part of their apprenticeship. Apprentices aged 19 and over may opt out of this requirement but need to ensure suitable working levels within both English and Maths.

Also, must be able to work more than 30 hours per week and provide a record of evidence.
