ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you will support teaching staff in creating engaging and effective learning environments to support curriculum delivery. You will work closely with students and staff to help ensure learners can fully access the curriculum, make positive progress, and participate confidently in both classroom and enrichment activities.

The role also includes supporting small group activities, events, competitions, and educational visits. You may accompany students on academic and enrichment trips as a mini-bus driver and first aider, with training provided where required.

This role will work 41 weeks per year.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support teaching staff in the Sport and Public Uniformed Services department by preparing equipment, resources and learning environments for curriculum delivery.
  • Manage the sports resources for the department, ensuring that equipment and resources are ordered timely, well maintained and organised.
  • Support on academic and enrichment trips as a mini-bus driver and first aider (training will be provided if not already qualified)
  • Attend curriculum meetings and contribute to the continual quality improvement mechanisms (e.g. maintenance of course files, timely updating of ILPs on ProMonitor).
  • Capture, store, and distribute video footage of student assessments/sporting activities with course tutors – including from VEO cameras.
  • Capture, store, and distribute player data analysis of students with course tutors and students where required.
  • Undertake MIDAS training for a minibus driving license (if not already held) and support with driving the minibus for academic and enrichment trips, as well as sporting fixtures for the students on the Football Education course.
  • Undertake first aid training (if not already held) to support students and staff on and off campus at college activities.
  • Provide occasional cover for sport and public uniformed services lessons
  • Keep up to date with current developments and adapt to changes in the Sport industry and further education landscape
  • Share in responsibility for ensuring good standards of student’s behaviour and take appropriate disciplinary action when liaising with course tutors.
  • Take an active part in the recruitment of learners providing appropriate advice and guidance.
  • Liaise whenever appropriate with feeder schools and support agencies.

  • Good communication skills – both verbal and written

  • An understanding of and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equality of opportunity
  • Knowledge and/or competencies of health and safety as relevant to the post and a commitment to safeguarding the health and safety of learners and others
  • To commit to undertaking first aid training qualification if not already held

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* – C, or equivalent) in maths and English
  • Hold a clean drivers licence and be eligible to drive a minibus or a firm commitment to completing MIDAS minibus training
  • Sports coaching and or fitness training qualifications (Desirable)
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in related subject area (Desirable)
