A T Level is a nationally recognised, technical qualification designed to give students the skills and knowledge needed for a specific industry. It combines classroom-based learning with a substantial work placement, with 80% classroom learning and 20% industry placement, ensuring learners gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills. For employers, T Levels offer the chance to engage with motivated learners, influence their training, and support the development of the next generation of skilled professionals.
Digital T Level student Tyler Floyd‑Morgan was praised as “a credit to the college” after impressing employers during his industry placement with automated technology specialist iconsys. Tyler spent nine weeks working alongside their professional IT team, gaining hands‑on experience on real‑world projects and rapidly developing both his technical and workplace skills. He said: “I’ve enjoyed it a lot and have got so much out of my work placements, which have given me the chance to apply the technical skills I learn at college.”
Supporting T Level placements is a practical way for employers to deliver social value while contributing to skills development in their community. By providing students with real workplace experience, businesses help learners gain confidence, develop practical skills, and understand the demands of the workplace.
Employers also benefit by connecting with motivated, work-ready talent and strengthening their local workforce. Engaging with T Levels demonstrates a commitment to community investment, helps address skills gaps, and supports wider economic growth. Through these placements, businesses can make a lasting positive impact on individuals, the local community, and their own organisation.
