Open events aren’t just for school leavers, they’re for everyone.
Our vast provision includes A levels, T-Levels, apprenticeships, vocational courses – plus a wide range of adult-focused options including degree-level higher education provision, employability courses, online learning and a range of evening classes.
It’s a lot to take in… so the best way to get a real flavour of life at Telford College is to attend one of our open events.
You’ll get chance to explore the campus at your leisure, meet our dedicated staff and students, and learn more about our courses and facilities.
Most open events at our Wellington campus run for two and a half hours, and take place during the evening.
Some people arrive knowing exactly what subjects they want to study and the support they’ll need, but others prefer to use it as an opportunity to shop around and simply see what’s available.
We have so many fascinating subject areas and facilities to visit, you may struggle to fit them all in!
To help you plan your time and see the best we have to offer, we’ve put together a list of the top ten things we think you won’t want to miss.

Brand new courses – Discover what’s available for the next cohort of school leavers. There’s an expanded A level & T-Level provision, games design, and a digital curriculum including IT and cybersecurity, delivered from Telford town centre’s Station Quarter. We’ve also teamed up with Wolves Foundation to launch a brand-new football & education programme, and so much more.

State-of-the-art trade workshops – With over £9 million invested across three vocational areas, you’ll be able to see our industry-standard training facilities in action. Our cutting-edge automotive centre has specialist workshops where students gain hands-on experience in an environment which mirrors the workplace, aided by strong links with local dealerships and garages, including two brand new electric cars. Meanwhile, in our modern construction centre, you’ll learn trades such as painting and decorating, plastering, bricklaying, tiling, plumbing, electrical installation and carpentry. We’ve also built an outdoor groundworks and civil engineering training area, in partnership with the 2025 Shropshire Company of the Year – civil engineering company McPhillips. Finally, when it comes to learning about engineering, you’ll find everything you need in our engineering hub, The Discovery Centre, including a Computer Aided Design (CAD) suite, welding bays, milling stations, robotics and computer numerical control machines. With a list of local and national employer partners on the wall as you walk through the door, you know you’re in expert hands.

Phenomenal student-run businesses – Our Wellington campus is home to three student-run businesses, all vital to the college lifestyle and providing valuable work experience. Our hair salon, The Retreat, offers an extensive range of hair and beauty treatments, from basic washes and blowdrys to colouring and massages in our dedicated salons, situated on the first floor of S Block. With successful lunches and takeaway initiatives on the go, our Orange Tree Restaurant regularly opens its doors to the public to taste the students’ incredible work. And our Sweet Success sweet shop in Rendezvous is staffed by our enthusiastic foundation students. Offering pick ‘n’ mix, slushies and much more, they are on hand to help you find a sweet treat.

Creative spaces and VR – Our creative curriculum is based in B Block, where you can find purpose-built workshops for art, photography, fashion and media. Don’t miss the dedicated green screen room and popular games design workshop, both kitted out with industry-standard technology. Music courses are based in our specialist centre at the Wellington campus. The centre is equipped with industry-standard workshops/studios and equipment, alongside teaching rooms. And our virtual reality cave looks to bring our entire curriculum to the forefront of technology, with VR support provided in most courses such as health, where our tailor-made software has won major awards.

Elite sport facilities – Our sports curriculum is well-supported by fantastic facilities which are in constant use by the community outside college hours. We have a double sized sports hall, an indoor 3G football pitch, and an outdoor 3G all-weather pitch. We also have a professional studio with a mirrored wall, ballet bar and sound system, plus a well-stocked gym that’s available to all students. As well as recreational sports activities, we launched our Sports Academy in 2024 and have an exciting partnership with Wolves Foundation, offering students the chance to obtain a sports qualification alongside a series of enrichment opportunities with the Premier League club.

Trailblazing health care – If you’re considering a career in health or social care, make sure to visit our Clinical Skills Centre, developed in close partnership with the NHS. It gives students experience of a realistic clinical environment and includes two ‘skills rooms’ – a four-bed hospital ward, and a two-bed maternity environment. The centre replicates what healthcare workers of the future will find in the clinical environment, meaning students will be fully prepared for the work placement element of their studies. Don’t forget say hello to our lifelike simulation dolls, including the popular Betty & Bertha!

Reassuring safeguarding support – Making the big leap from school to college can be tough, with an entirely new environment, new rules and even new travel arrangements. The college takes the emotional health and wellbeing of students and staff very seriously. Having the chance to access the support we offer when you need it can make a big difference to your college experience. We offer a range of different support services, and our BeSafe team has counsellors and mentors that work in college and are here to support you.

Telford Station Quarter – Our innovative digital & maths skills hub is already up and running in The Quad, providing an industry-standard environment for vocational students and apprentices. This is soon to be joined by our brand-new 6th Form Centre, Telford 6th, where work is now under way to prepare the site for the first students to be welcomed in September 2026. Speak to our staff about this redevelopment of the town centre, which signifies an ambitious step towards raising aspirations and creating a bridge between education and modern industry.

Financial Support – Sometimes, getting to college is hard… but we may be able to help you. Visit our student services team in Rendezvous to find out what we can do for you, as funds are available to assist financially disadvantaged learners through one of two Government-backed schemes – enhanced, and discretionary schemes – alongside free college meals.

Course Advice and Guidance – Preparing you for your next steps is integral to everything we do at Telford College. We have a dedicated team to support you – whether it be employment, apprenticeships, higher education or further studies at college. Be sure to visit our careers stand to discuss your future ambitions and how we can help you achieve your goals, as well as interview and CV preparation. Our apprenticeship team will also be on hand for those looking to earn while they learn on the job. And Keele University, which has set up a new base at our Wellington campus, will also be able to answer questions about progression opportunities and the steps you’d need to take to prepare yourself a pathway into higher education.
There will be numerous talks taking place in each area across the evening, parking at our open events is free, and there are free refreshments on offer too. Ready to book your place? See our list of open events and start your journey today.
