From September 2027, Telford College will begin introducing V Levels – new Level 3 vocational qualifications that will gradually replace many existing BTEC and AAQ courses.
Offering the same size qualification as an A Level, V Levels provide a flexible way to build a study programme that supports your interests, strengths and future ambitions.
Telford College are busy finalising their V Level provision for September 2027 onwards. We will announce this in due course with full course information during the 2026-2027 year.
We will also offer some new reformed Level 2 qualifications called Occupational & Foundation Certificates which will also be announced alongside our V Levels.
V Levels are new vocational qualifications that are the same size as an A Level.

No. A Levels will continue to be available. V Levels provide an additional vocational option and can even be studied alongside A Levels.
Many current BTEC and Alternative Academic Qualification (AAQ) courses will gradually transition to V Levels over time.
Yes. T Levels will continue to be offered and the range of subjects available will expand over the coming years.
There are three major pathways for Level 3.
A Levels are an academic qualification that allows students to choose and study multiple subjects, giving them flexibility to focus on areas they enjoy or need for their future career. They are particularly well suited to students who plan to progress to higher education, as they provide strong preparation for university study. A Levels can also be taken alongside some V Level qualifications, allowing students to combine academic and vocational learning.
T Levels are a full-time technical qualification designed to focus on a single industry area. Unlike A Levels, which involve studying several subjects, T Levels provide more specialised learning and include a substantial industry placement. They are aimed at students who want practical, hands-on experience while developing skills for employment in growing sectors, helping to bridge the gap between education and the workplace.
V Levels are vocational qualifications that focus on one or more career-related subjects. They are similar in size to A Levels but place greater emphasis on practical and work-related learning. Unlike T Levels, they are less focused on a single industry pathway and can often be combined with A Levels, giving students the opportunity to mix vocational and academic study to suit their interests and career goals.
