Award-winning comedian, actress and author Francesca Martinez will be visiting Telford College this autumn to share some powerful motivational messages with staff and students.

Francesca became the first female comic to win the prestigious Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award at the Edinburgh Festival, and has since performed around the world.

She is now in demand as a motivational speaker, and will be visiting Telford College’s Wellington campus on September 2 to speak to staff, and take part in a question-and-answer session with students.

Francesca has appeared on numerous TV shows including Live at the Apollo, The Jonathan Ross Show and Extras. Her last theatre tour took in 140 dates globally.

She has been nominated for the Motivator of the Year Award alongside the likes of Live Aid creator Sir Bob Geldof, and multiple Team GB rowing gold medallist Sir Matthew Pinsent.

Her first book, What The **** Is Normal?!, was published to critical acclaim and nominated for two national book awards, and her first play, All Of Us, was a hit at the National Theatre.

Francesca, who has cerebral palsy, shares valuable insights into defying expectations, turning challenges into successes, developing resilience and tenacity through adversity, and overcoming physical and psychological barriers.

One of her key messages is to change the way we view our challenges – so that we view them as opportunities for personal growth and deeper understanding.
