Automotive apprentices stepped into the spotlight at a major industry show, helping Telford College to make a series of valuable connections.

The students were part of the brand‑new College Zone at The Professional Recovery Tow Show – the nation’s largest and most influential trade show dedicated to the vehicle recovery sector, held at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

Backed by innovation specialists NuAxle, whose patented new vehicle support system is reshaping safety and efficiency standards across the industry, the college team used the event to showcase emerging talent, strengthen employer links and demonstrate the real‑world skills being developed on campus.

NuAxle brought a three-wheeled Indian Tuk-Tuk onto the Telford College stand at the show, giving the apprentices chance to showcase their fitting and maintenance skills.

Telford College automotive assessor Robert Adams said: “The show went really well. We made some good connections and potential tie-ups for the future, and it was a fabulous experience for our students. 

“We used the Tuk-Tuk for interactive demonstrations – as well as a competition between the trade and our apprentices to see who could change a wheel and axle the fastest.

“It was a chance for our apprentices to be the stars of the show as a reward for their hard work – but also an opportunity for us as a college to showcase how we are bringing on the next generation for the trade.

“It raised awareness of the college’s apprenticeship programmes and how we can do more to help the recovery trade.

“A lot of recovery companies are now starting to open their own garages, or take on vehicle repair jobs, and that means they need a pipeline of qualified technicians. This is where we can help.”
