Telford College construction students are helping to build the staging and scenery for a major local theatre production of Disney’s hit musical Frozen.
Telford and District Light Operatic Players, known as TADLOP, are putting on four performances of the magical fairytale at The Edge in Much Wenlock, from October 22-24.
The Telford College construction team has been working closely with the production crew to design and build key scenic elements for the show, including painting and stencilling doors.
Students have been involved in measuring, cutting, assembling and finishing the pieces, ensuring they meet both artistic expectations and practical theatre requirements.

Construction tutor Barry Mason said: “This has been a fantastic opportunity for our level one and two construction students to apply their skills in a live environment.
“Working with TADLOP has given our students a real sense of responsibility – knowing their craftsmanship will be seen by hundreds of people. It’s exactly the kind of employer‑linked project that builds confidence, teamwork and professional standards.”
He said the partnership was a perfect opportunity to showcase how vocational skills played a vital role in bringing ambitious productions to life.
TADLOP has been bringing a flavour of the West End to Telford since 1972. The group meets twice a week to deliver two full-scale musical productions every year.
Marketing manager Katie Kinnon said: “We are so grateful to Telford College for using their time, skills and resources to help our charity produce set for this magical show.

“As a charity, and with rising theatre costs it has become increasingly difficult to source high-quality scenery to bring our shows to life on a cost-friendly budget.
“Our aim is to inspire theatrical experiences, whether that be on or off stage. We have loved hearing from Barry how the students are using their skills to adapt to a completely new way of working to produce fully working scenery for our show.
“We are hopeful that students have been able to use their creativity in ways they might not have done in class before and we can’t wait for them to see it be brought to life through the magic of live theatre.”
She added: “We hope this collaboration not only give our audiences a feast for the eyes, but also inspired the students to use their skills in ways they might not have considered before.
“Maybe even some of them might look into set design and scenery dressing as a career in the future!”
