A Telford College engineering lecturer has showcased his research on the use of artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector at a major conference.
Richard Molli Boulock was among a high-profile group of academics, PhD students, technicians and postdoctoral researchers at Harper Adams University’s sixth annual research conference.
Richard joined forces with Harper Adams lecturer Dr Maria Aina to present research on Edge AI innovation frameworks for entrepreneurship, agricultural productivity, and inclusive development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He said: “Our research explores the potential of Edge AI and soil intelligence technologies to address key agricultural challenges while creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship.
“The study highlights how these technologies can improve productivity and resilience while supporting more inclusive and sustainable development across Sub-Saharan Africa.”

Richard said the conference provided an excellent platform for researchers to exchange ideas, build professional connections, and demonstrate how research and innovation can contribute to meaningful real-world impact.
Professor Dawn Arnold, associate pro-vice chancellor for research and research culture at Harper Adams University, said: “Each year, the conference highlights research from right across the University community – with contributions from early-career PhD students to long-standing Professors.
“It’s an excellent opportunity to hear about the exciting research carried out here and also gives plenty of opportunity for our researchers, technical and support staff to network, swap ideas and build a stronger research community.”
