Hundreds of people took the opportunity to explore Telford College’s new £9 million sixth form centre when it staged its first open event.
Telford 6th, based in the town centre’s Station Quarter, is the college’s new dedicated A level centre, which opened its doors to A level students last month.
Located at the former Addenbrooke House, the building has undergone a complete renovation to enable the college to re-locate its entire A level provision from the Wellington campus.
Last night’s open event was a chance for prospective students, and their families, to speak with staff and tour the new facilities, which include state-of-the-art science labs, a drama studio, library and arts studio.
Clare Snik, vice principal at Telford 6th, said: “It was fantastic to see so many prospective students and families coming through the doors.
“There was a real sense of excitement about the new campus, and it was great to talk to young people about the opportunities available to them and the ambitions they have for their next steps.
“We want Telford 6th to provide an aspirational, high-quality A level experience right here in the heart of Telford, and the response from students and parents has been incredibly encouraging.”
Telford 6th brings A level provision into the heart of the town for the first time, creating a modern and easily accessible environment for students to study before taking their next steps.
Telford MP Shaun Davies, who performed the building’s official opening last month, said: “Telford 6th is about more than giving young people access to education in the town centre. It’s an investment in their future; giving them the opportunities and support they need to achieve their ambitions.”
