Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) is a very serious crime. It is a type of modern slavery when a male or female under 18 is sexually exploited for the benefit or gain of someone else. Some victims are also trafficked for the purpose of exploitation.
Abusers are increasingly using the internet to target vulnerable children. It can happen across any device that’s connected to the web, like computers, consoles, tablets, mobile phones and smart speakers.
If you suspect a child is being sexually exploited or have concerns that a child may be at risk, then you have a duty to report it.

“Following the Telford and Wrekin safeguarding case review regarding historic Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), the local authority safeguarding team have a list of recommended actions for all secondary schools and colleges to have a dedicated CSE lead in post. I would therefore take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all as CSE Lead for Telford College.
It is important to note that the role is not a response to any isolated incident at Telford College but is a requirement of the local authority safeguarding team following the serious incident case review. Telford College cares about its students and community, therefore it is vital we recognise the challenges we may face in society and work proactively to safeguard all.
