Aimed at learners who are keen to start a career in the construction industry. It will appeal to anyone who wants to explore the practical elements of the building service and general construction sectors. You’ll gain good hands-on and employability skills, and cover some theory areas of the construction industry too, with taster sessions in many construction areas.

Units:
– Plastering repairs
– Health & Safety in construction
– Painting and decorating repairs
– Small-scale building repairs
– Small-scale plumbing repairs
– Principles and theories of construction
– Carpentry repairs

Work placement opportunities:
Prestige Barns, Vortex Cleaning, JSB Building, Balfour Beatty, and Carrera Construction.
Progressing to: Level 3 course, or junior construction and building maintenance roles

Aspirational careers: Civil engineer, housebuilder, site manager, commercial manager, designer
Applicants must have completed Level 1 Construction before progressing
4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English or maths
Candidates complete a series of hands-on tasks covering trades like roofing, brickwork, paving, plumbing, plastering, painting, and carpentry Each unit also includes a knowledge test
Required Personal Protective Equipment:

– Suitable work trousers – black or dark grey

– Dark coloured polo shirt – black, dark grey or navy

– Suitable protective footwear
