The world of engineering, manufacturing and maintenance is always evolving to keep pace with new innovations.

This one-year course will help to develop your knowledge and understanding of the role of engineers, and gain practical skills to benefit your career. It will suit you if you’re looking for a career in engineering and want to develop the skills gained from other qualifications.

Units include working in engineering, mechanical and electrical maintenance, cutting and forming metal, CAD and an introduction to electronics.

– Computer aided drawing (CAD)
– Electronics
– Cutting, forming and assembling engineering materials
– Basic maths and science used in engineering

Work placement opportunities: AceOn specialist battery manufacturers, Iconsys automated technology solutions, Protolabs digital manufacturers
Progressing to: Engineering level 2 diploma, engineering operative apprenticeship, or jobs with local employers such as Denso Manufacturing UK, Avara Foods, and Borgers Ltd.

Aspirational careers: Mechatronics maintenance technician, design technician, or manufacturing technician
4 GCSEs at grades 2-1 – including English or maths
This course is graded through assessments.
