This one-year course is for students who have an existing Level 2 qualification in hairdressing who want to take their skills to a higher level. It combines advanced and creative techniques to further develop your practical skills preparing you for a successful career in hairdressing. You will be working in a real-life salon environment at The Retreat, completing practical assessments on members of the public. You will be expected to complete written assignments and online exams.

– Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
– Consultation
– Cut women’s hair to create a variety of looks
– Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
– Colour hair to create a variety of looks
– Cut men’s hair to create a variety of looks
– Creative hairdressing design skills
– Hair colour correction

Work placement opportunities:
Toni & Guy, Francesco Group, Rizzo’s, Jenny Spoon’s, KLF, Avani
Progressing to: university, spa management, colour specialist, jobs on cruise liners, or theatrical/media hair and make-up. HND in business at Telford College.

Aspirational careers: celebrity stylist, art director, or spa management, working with industry brands such as Elemis, Champneys, Royston & Blythe,L’Oreal, HeadMasters. Creating and owning your own brand.
A full Level 2 hairdressing qualification NVQ or equivalent, plus GCSE at grade 4 or above in English and/or maths
This course is assessed by multiple practical assessments to be completed on clients, as well as an online multiple-choice exam at the end of each unit. Students must achieve all elements to successfully achieve the qualification.
