Step into work: education & training is a 3-week course designed to help you move into school-based roles. Build confidence, develop CV and interview skills, and learn about working with children, safeguarding and Prevent. Includes employer talks, school insight/shadowing opportunities, and a guaranteed interview.

Covers personal development, confidence building, CV writing and interview skills, alongside an introduction to working in schools. Explore roles supporting children and young people, including safeguarding and Prevent. Gain insight from employers, take part
in school-based experiences, and develop the skills needed to progress into education roles.

A key highlight is the opportunity to connect directly with employers, including a guaranteed interview and potential school shadowing. This gives you real insight into the role, builds confidence, and provides a valuable chance to take your first step into
working in education.

Level 1 personal development for employablity (includes CV writing and interview techniques)
Level 2 customer service (linked to working in schools i.e. building relationships with colleagues, parents and carers)
Level 1 preparing to work in schools
Level 2 safeguarding and prevent
Progression can lead to a level 2 supporting teaching and learning in schools, or a level 3 specialist support in teaching and learning in schools.

Either course can be delivered on site at Telford College or online as a diploma.
19+
Currently unemployed OR
Employed/self-employed earning less than the living wage annually

Level 1 functional skills English (minimum)
Good level of written and spoken English
Workbook completion
