Teaching assistant courses are specially designed for those who enjoy being with children and young people. If you’re enthusiastic about sharing your knowledge, being a teaching assistant could be the career for you. You need to be a good communicator; ready to work hard in an environment that can be quite tough; resilient, flexible and well organised. You will spend three days in college and one day in placement.

– Support health & safety

– Safeguarding

– Develop professional relationships with children and adults

– Understand how young children develop

– Support positive behaviour

– Support children during activities

– Support English and maths

– Support the use IT

– Support Assessment for Learning

– Engage in PPD

Maths and English

Work placement opportunities:

Work placement is mandatory. Settings may include primary schools, secondary schools and colleges supporting teaching and learning.
L3 T Level in Early Years, Teaching and learning assistant role at school, or choice of apprenticeships and higher level studies.
5 GCSE’s at grade 3 or higher

GCSE/functional skills maths and English can be taken with this course.
