From September 2026, Telford College’s A level courses will be delivered from a brand-new Telford 6th building in the heart of the town centre.
It will have state-of-the-art science labs for physics, biology and chemistry, a drama studio, arts studio, bespoke library for learners, and much more.
Here, the college answers some of your most frequently asked questions.
Q: Why are you creating a new town centre A level campus?
A: To offer more choice, and a wider range of exciting opportunities which prepare young people for their next steps into employment or higher education – all delivered in a modern, focused, state-of-the-art learning facility exclusively for A level students.

Q: Will Telford 6th be like any other sixth form?
A: Not quite. While we offer the same academic opportunities as traditional sixth forms (and in some cases more), Telford 6th combines a sixth form environment with strong student support, outstanding new facilities and a convenient location in the heart of Telford. Students will enjoy more independence, a wider choice of courses, and access to modern facilities designed specifically for post-16 learning.
Q: What will the learning facilities look like?
A: You can see a 3D walk-through video on the Telford College YouTube channel, and also the college website, giving you a flavour of how the purpose-built interior of Telford 6th will look.

Q: Will there be any new courses at Telford 6th?
A: Yes. New courses already confirmed for the first year of Telford 6th include film studies, and medical science.
Q: Can I sit a vocational qualification alongside A levels?
A: Yes. As part of our A level programme we offer some options to mix vocational and A level subjects – these subjects are listed as ‘Extended Certificates’. Most students will take three A levels over the course of two years, but we will also offer some BTEC courses too.
Q: Why should I consider enrolling at Telford 6th?
A: Our focus is on delivering outstanding teaching, tailored support, and real-world opportunities. We provide excellent progression routes to university, apprenticeships, and careers, backed by experienced staff and a vibrant student community.
Q: Will I have to wear a uniform at Telford 6th?
A: Absolutely not – we want students to feel comfortable and express themselves, while maintaining a smart and respectful appearance suitable for a modern learning environment.
Q: Will I be studying A levels across two campus sites, Wellington and Telford town centre?
A: No, all A level lessons will be taught at Telford 6th in the town centre.

Q: Where exactly is new Telford 6th town centre campus?
A: It is in the heart of the new Station Quarter development in Telford Town Centre, next to The Quad. You can find us at Ironmasters Way, TF3 4NT.
Q: What does this mean for the college’s Wellington campus?
A: Moving our A level provision to the town centre will allow us to further expand our vocational training provision at the Wellington campus, which will become a specialist vocational training centre.
Q: How do I find out more information, and keep up to date with the latest news?
A: Apply for your place through our website, www.telfordcollege.ac.uk. All Telford 6th applicants will receive updates about the campus, and news about what we are doing with our current students, plus activities in lessons, trips and visits.
